ABOUT
Digital Temporalities / Diorama #1
Digital Print 150 * 70 cm. Ongoing Research Trajectory
The digital contemporaneity is deeply entangled with time, knotted with memory and originating in the earthly communities of rocks. Touching media interfaces unlocks a cascade of interwoven bodies, materialities, temporalities: flows of matter and energy that affect our everyday lifes. When I touch my screen, my fingers are part of a stratified vertical planetary rhizome or superstructure: holes in the earth of lithium and cobber mines, labor of digitalism, lost natures, smart city grids, transatlantic cables, satelittes, decomposing toxic, a natural history of electronic fossils.
Diorama #1 explores digital contemporaneity, memory, and time within a surreal installation that features 3D-scanned extinct and endangered animals, alongside digital remnants, minerals, rocks, mining landscapes, blockchain codes and geological surveys. Set against the backdrop of a pale-colored temple, this work reflects on the socio-ecological implications of media technologies, through concepts of memory and transcorporeality.
The research is looking at the complex interplay between the digital and the physical realms, suggesting that our interactions with technology are intertwined with a vast history of materials and memories. By highlighting the flows of matter, energy, and history embedded in our technological landscape, Diorama #1 invites contemplation of the multiplicities of time and the interconnectedness of human and non-human experiences.
